A Bench Goes West

For the better part of two years, this rustic hardwood bench lived in our showroom. Nineteenth century, heavy hardwood, fifty-four inches long, with a seat that curves in a way you do not expect from a bench. Our listing called it a sculpture, and we stand by that.

Then Jessica M., a long way from Enterprise, found it by searching online, and it went west.

Home, with the packing still on the floor, and Zoey, the family dog. Photo shared by its new owner, Jessica M.

Not long after it arrived, a photo came in. There it is, against a pale wall under a big round mirror, the bubble wrap still in a heap beside it, and Zoey already standing on it as if the whole delivery had been arranged for her.

We do not get to see most pieces again once they leave. We spend a long time with something, learn its marks, and then it goes off to a life we can only imagine. So a photo like this means a great deal to us.

If something from Salvage Garden lives with you now, or any old piece you love, we would like to see it. Tell us about it here. And if you are looking for a bench of your own, the ones on the floor now are here.
