Early 19th Century Nine-Panel Door – Historic Ontario Stone House
Early 19th Century Nine-Panel Door – Historic Ontario Stone House
A remarkable nineteenth-century nine-panel door salvaged from a squire's stone house built in 1831 in the Napanee area of Eastern Ontario.
The door features a distinctive nine-panel configuration with moulded panel surrounds and a beautifully aged painted finish in muted green and warm ochre. Generations of use have left a rich patina, with areas of worn paint and exposed wood that give the piece its unmistakable character.
Retaining its original lockset, brass-coloured knob and iron hinges, this substantial door is an appealing example of early Ontario architectural craftsmanship.
Suitable for a period restoration, a distinctive interior doorway or as a decorative architectural feature in a contemporary setting.
Condition: Offered as found, with age-related wear and imperfections consistent with its history. The original hardware has not been refurbished, and the upper hinge is broken. The lockset has not been tested.
