Set of Three Antique Four Panel Pine Doors – c. 1900
Set of Three Antique Four Panel Pine Doors – c. 1900
A handsome matching set of three antique four-panel interior doors, salvaged from a North Toronto home and dating to approximately c. 1900.
The classic four-panel configuration features two elongated upper panels over two shorter lower panels, with restrained moulded detailing typical of late Victorian and early Edwardian interiors. Constructed in what appears to be pine, the doors have been stripped and refinished at some point in their history, revealing the warm colour, varied grain and individual character of the wood.
Finding a single antique door in a useful size is relatively easy. Finding three matching doors from the same house is considerably less common, making this set particularly well suited to a period restoration, cottage or country house renovation, or a residential or hospitality project where continuity between rooms is important.
The doors show the expected marks, variations and evidence of use accumulated over more than a century. The centre door has a repaired crack in one of its upper panels as well as a professionally patched former lock or latch opening. These repairs remain visible and form part of the history and character of the set.
