A matched set of architectural pony walls with fluted Ionic columns and pilasters, salvaged from a small-town South Eastern Ontario residence. Designed as an interior room-defining element, these pieces would originally have framed a formal threshold — separating spaces while maintaining light, rhythm, and proportion.

The fluted shafts are paired with simplified Ionic capitals, featuring restrained volutes typical of late-19th to early-20th century domestic architecture. More robust than academic classical examples, this style was used in Ontario homes of the period, offering classical presence without excessive ornament.

The proportions are particularly successful: substantial without being overpowering, and tall enough to read as true architectural elements within modern interiors.

Leans architectural and enduring — these are not decorative fragments, but complete, usable interior architecture.

Design Notes

Ideal for use as:

  • Entry hall or foyer dividers

  • Kitchen–dining transitions

  • Library or study thresholds

  • Boutique retail or hospitality interiors

  • Gallery-style room definitions

These elements work equally well left painted for a soft, traditional look, or refinished for a more continental, timeworn finish.

Complete architectural elements of this scale and quality are increasingly difficult to source. While individual fluted columns or pilasters are occasionally available on the secondary market, they are most often separated from their original bases, capitals, or associated millwork. Intact sets incorporating pony walls, columns, and pilasters — designed to function together as interior architecture — are rarely encountered.

Safe & Sound! Thank you David, an excellent job on packaging.

The lamp is the perfect accoutrement to my Great, Grandfather’s roll top desk. I’m the 4 th generation in my family to labour away on its planks.
