Pair of French Brass Ecclesiastic Candlesticks Converted to Lamps
Pair of French Brass Ecclesiastic Candlesticks Converted to Lamps
A striking pair of French ecclesiastic candlesticks later converted to electric table lamps, with beautifully modelled bases and a warm, time-softened brass surface. Originally silver plated, the finish has been polished away over the decades, leaving a mellow, lived-in patina that suits their sculptural character.
The bases are especially strong, with foliate scrollwork, paw feet, and oval medallions featuring devotional figures, all of which give the pair a distinct ecclesiastical presence without feeling overly formal. Their tall, slender proportions make them ideal for a mantel, console, sideboard, or bedside setting where a touch of old-world ornament is wanted.
These lamps would work especially well in layered interiors that mix antique religious objects, giltwood, marble, and darker modern pieces. They have a collected look that feels both decorative and atmospheric.
