Pair of Antique French-Style Brass & Iron Andirons
Pair of Antique French-Style Brass & Iron Andirons
A charming pair of small antique brass and iron fireplace andirons, believed to be 19th century French, with classical styling and beautifully aged surfaces.
Each andiron features a spherical brass finial with a raised central band, decorative turned top and stepped pedestal base. The brass has developed a rich, mellow patina that contrasts beautifully with the dark iron log supports.
Their diminutive proportions make them particularly appealing for a smaller fireplace or cottage hearth. Equally attractive as decorative objects, they offer a lovely combination of understated elegance and utilitarian design.
Condition: Antique condition with surface wear, oxidation and patina consistent with age and use. One brass sphere has a noticeable area of loss, as shown in the photographs. The pair has been priced accordingly. Offered in as-found condition.
