Oversized Antique Pine Arched Pocket Doors – Pair

Architectural features don't get much grander than this.

Standing an impressive 106 inches (8'10") tall, this monumental pair of antique pine pocket doors was designed to separate the principal rooms of a substantial late Victorian or early Edwardian home or public building. Their graceful segmental arches, generous proportions and restrained classical detailing create a commanding presence while remaining surprisingly versatile in both traditional and contemporary interiors.

Unlike hinged doors, pocket doors were intended to disappear completely into the surrounding walls, allowing adjoining rooms to be opened into one expansive space or closed for privacy. Their scale suggests they once divided formal entertaining rooms, a ballroom, library or similarly important interior.

Both doors retain their original arched profiles and substantial solid pine construction. One side has been largely stripped to reveal the warmth and character of the old-growth pine beneath, while the opposite side illustrates how the doors appeared during a later chapter of their working life. This honest presentation allows the next owner to decide whether to preserve the history, continue stripping, or refinish to suit their project.

Condition

Good antique condition with expected wear consistent with age and architectural use. One face has been substantially stripped while the opposite face retains later painted finishes. Original hardware has been removed, leaving visible mortises and mounting holes, as shown in the photographs. 

As with all antique architectural salvage, minor imperfections, evidence of previous repairs and generations of use contribute to their authenticity and character.
