A beautiful and substantial pair of antique six-panel pocket doors, acquired from a small town in the Ottawa region.

Believed to be Douglas fir, the doors feature six raised horizontal panels with wonderful grain, scale and architectural presence. One face retains much of its rich, dark original finish with years of authentic wear and patina, while the reverse has been stripped to reveal the warm natural wood beneath. We like both sides for entirely different reasons.

Original recessed brass pocket-door pulls remain in place. The pulls align on the original-finish side; on the stripped side, they are offset from one another — part of the doors' long history and something we have left exactly as found.

The original overhead glider hardware is also included. The gliders have not been tested and should be assumed to require cleaning, adjustment and/or refurbishment before installation.

At 85" across when paired, these are unusually wide pocket doors with terrific proportions. They could be returned to service as architectural doors, adapted to a modern sliding-door installation, or incorporated into a large interior design project where their scale and character can take centre stage.

Offered as found with surface wear, scratches, finish loss, old marks and other evidence of age and use. Please review photographs closely for condition.

Why we like them

The scale. At more than seven feet across, these have the presence that makes great architectural salvage so difficult to reproduce. Add the six-panel construction, original hardware and two wonderfully different surfaces, and they offer plenty for a designer or renovator to work with.
