Antique Passenger Elevator Interior Panels with Mirrored Ceiling

A remarkable collection of turn-of-the-century passenger elevator panels, offering a rare opportunity to incorporate authentic architectural history into a contemporary interior. Salvaged as a complete group, this collection includes the original entrance surround, two matching side panels, a rear panel with surviving mirror inserts, and the original mirrored ceiling panel.

Crafted in hardwood with raised panel construction, the elevator interior features fluted pilasters, a decorative embossed pressed-paper frieze with its original metallic finish, and period mirror work. While no maker's marks or provenance remain, the design and construction are consistent with quality passenger elevators installed in commercial buildings and hotels during the early 20th century.

Although no longer complete enough for restoration as an operating elevator, the collection presents extraordinary opportunities for adaptive reuse. Imagine these panels creating a dramatic entrance hall, library, powder room, restaurant vestibule, boutique hotel feature, wine cellar, or statement wall. The scale and craftsmanship lend themselves to projects where authentic architectural character simply cannot be replicated.

This set is offered in as-found condition. Several mirror panels are missing, there is evidence of age, wear and staining consistent with long-term use and storage, and one section includes an old replacement panel. We believe these imperfections contribute to the authenticity and character of the collection and have chosen not to undertake restoration.

Condition

Offered in original, unrestored condition. Age-related wear throughout including surface scratches, finish loss, staining, missing mirror sections, losses to portions of the decorative pressed-paper frieze, and an old replacement panel.
