Antique Mercantile Counter | 11-Foot Architectural Salvage for Kitchen Island or Bar

An impressive antique mercantile counter with the scale, craftsmanship and architectural character to become the centrepiece of a thoughtfully designed interior.

Measuring over 11 feet in length, this substantial wooden counter features beautifully detailed diagonal panelling, recessed end panels, decorative pilasters, shaped brackets and layered architectural mouldings. Its weathered surface, worn finish and evidence of a long working life contribute to its unmistakable character.

Likely dating to the late 19th or early 20th century, the counter is consistent with commercial cabinetry once found in general stores and mercantile establishments.

With its generous proportions and distinctive architectural detailing, this counter offers considerable potential for adaptation.

Condition

The counter has been vacuumed and washed but is otherwise offered as found and unrestored.

The original countertop is missing. There are areas of deterioration, wood rot and material loss, along the lower section, as the top board which has been left in place but is an excellent pattern for a replacement.

Structural repairs and stabilization may be required before installation or use. Any restoration, modifications and new countertop installation will be the responsibility of the purchaser.
