1930s Exterior Door with Diamond Leaded Glass

A handsome exterior door from a fine 1930s Ottawa home, featuring vertical board construction and a small diamond-pattern leaded glass window.

The simplicity of the door is what makes it so appealing. The narrow vertical boards give it strong proportions, while the leaded glass window adds just enough architectural detail. Measuring 36" wide and an impressive 83.5" high, it is a substantial period door well suited to the entrance of an older home, cottage or thoughtfully designed new build.

The door retains later hardware including a mail slot, lock components, escutcheon plates and exterior pull. The hardware is not original to the door and there is no key. A new owner may choose to retain some of the existing components while replacing the handle plates and updating or rebuilding the locking mechanism.

Painted dark blue on the exterior and white on the reverse, the door is offered as found with age-related wear, marks and paint loss. Overall condition is very nice for its age. The diamond leaded glass is particularly attractive and appears in very good condition.
