A rare and sculptural 18th Century Dutch fire shield, hand-forged in iron with a beautifully aged patina. Crafted with riveted iron straps forming a domed, cage-like structure and topped with an iron ring for suspension above the hearth. These shields were traditionally used to guard against sparks or embers from open fires, their form both functional and decorative.
